Hello Family,
This week I had the pleasure of joining 10+ brilliant writers for a
virtual writing session. It was an absolute joy but not because I was productive (I was actually late to the session and only got a bit of writing done). The experience was notable because it was the first time I felt a true sense of community as an artist. As I reflected on that feeling and my experience seeing and hearing from the writers I’ve come to enjoy, I realized something I’d taken for granted on my creative journey – connection. Like the spine of a book, connection binds our stories together to create the beautiful anthology we call community.
While I’ve written on the topic of connection recently, it wasn’t until I sat with fellow writers that I realized how much it meant to be a part of this community. And how much it means to have each of you receive this small but personally meaningful email. Although it may not offer the same level of intimacy as having a cup of coffee together, I do hope these notes offer a smidgen of the sweetness connection has to offer each of us…even the outsiders.
be one with your fellow outsiders.
