The play of poetry comes in many forms.
This week I found myself exploring the proverbial sandbox of concrete poetry.
Unlike the found and illustrated poems I’ve done, concrete poems don’t rely on additional visuals to reflect the meaning of the poem. Instead, a bit of creative arranging allows the words to do that for themselves.
Casting this kind of self–fulfilling magic on my poems reminded me that despite the deep and liberating nature of my creative work, it is still the moments of play that I find most alluring about my craft.
We came into this world with a knowing deeper than knowledge.
The brevity of life can be terrifying or liberating.
Play doesn’t require a stage or audience.
Writing is as much about the act as the audience.
The way you arranged “freely” and “twirled” had my inner child clapping with glee! How fun! I want to play with poems now, too.💕
These are SO awesome! And inspiring.
