A poem on the me I dream of…
In moments of quiet, I find myself dreaming less about achievements and more about who I’d like to become.
When I do, the self I see is the unyielding type who refuses to close himself off to love.
Instead, his strength is that of a bridge, inviting others to join him in his embrace of wonder.
Because it is wonder that led him to the one place healing could happen - within himself.
Now when he reaches out, it is with tender hands that seek connection rather than completion.
When I dream, I like to dream about him because he is me, at least the me I’d like to see.
Notes on Dreaming
Art is a decision to dream.
A note from author and poet Jason Reynolds.
Sit and dream before you think.
A note from Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Toni Morrison.
You have to dream to be awake.
A note from novelist and short story writer Haruki Murakami.
This week the 1,100th person joined me on my creative journey. I am grateful to know there are some, much less this many of you, who enjoy the art I create.
However, during my celebration of this milestone and reflection on dreams, I was reminded that my art comes from me and I am who I am because of the deep work I’ve done within myself.
While the support I receive is life-giving, it doesn’t preclude me from continuing to pursue emotional health. Instead, it is a reminder of the richness that can be enjoyed if I do.
SIDE NOTE: Starting today, I’ll be sending my deck of notes out on Sundays (again). The biggest reason for the change is my desire to start my creative schedule and week off with my art entering the world. Thank you for being here as I do.
I’m striving to continue to dream intentionally. I love the quotes you pulled and the way you extracted hidden messages within them! I’m so inspired by you bro!
I appreciate it Claire 🥲
